Add A Downloadable Product

Preparing The File
- Modify the file to use the standard design and format for SIA literature. (TBD, will link a template here.)
- Name the file with EnglishName-TranslatedName-ISOcode.extension
  - Ex: promises-約束-jp.docx
- Create the pdf with the same name:
  - Ex: promises-約束-jp.pdf
Is this a replacement?
- FIND AND DELETE THE CURRENT FILE.
Upload the file
- Open the Media directory in WordPress and upload the file
  - Rename the item (the title in the media library) – this won’t change the filename, but that’s ok Ex: promises-約束-jp
- Open Media Library Folders in the WP side menu
  - Find the product in the uploads directory
  - Move it to the language directory named using the ISO 639-1 standard
    - The interface looks like a filesystem hierarchy but the actual mechanics of using it are a little nonstandard and awkward: you have to select the element you want to edit or act on first. For more info, here’s the Media Library Folders tutorial.
WooCommerce Product
- Is this a replacement?
  - It’s up to you whether to just change the link in the current product or to delete the product and create a new one.
  - In both cases, follow the instructions below to make sure all the tags are correct.
Create or edit the product
- Link the product to the media file
- Add the price
  - Price is required, so set to $0 for free downloadable products/resources)
- Set the product type:
  - Downloadable for all PDFs or audio files, even if it’s a free product
  - Not virtual (virtual is reserved for contributions)
- Add three (3) tags and one (1) category to allow the product to show up correctly in searches and filters:
  - Add the category for literature Type. (12s, Newcomer, Service, etc.)
  - Add tags
    - Add tag for Literature Type (12s, Newcomer, Service, etc)
    - Add tag for Language (French, English, etc)
    - Add tag for Media Type (pdf, audio)
