Survivors of Incest Anonymous
for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse
*** IMPORTANT *** Due to limitations of our virtual meeting platform, our virtual meetings are limited to 45 minutes. As a result, the virtual meeting ends at 12:45 PM Eastern. Newcomers and existing SIA members wishing to attend the meeting virtually are invited to email us (UnityNoonSIA@gmail.com). To protect the safety of our virtual meeting, we may ask some qualifying questions before sharing the virtual meeting connection info. Our meeting welcomes adults who are, or believe they may be, survivors of incest. We define incest very broadly as a sexual encounter by a family member, or by an extended family member, that damaged the child. By “extended family” member we mean a person that you and/or your family have known over a period of time. This may be any family member, a family friend, clergy, another child, or anyone who betrayed the child’s innocence and trust. We believe we were affected by the abuse whether it occurred once or many times since the damage was incurred immediately. By “abuse” we mean any sexual behavior or contact with the child. Sexual contacts may include a variety of verbal and/or physical behaviors; penetration is not necessary for the experience to be defined as incest or sexual abuse. Look for the small park on W Broad (Virginia Route 7) between Hot N Juicy Crawfish Restaurant and Hunan Cafe. The entrance to the Unity Club is on the northwest side of the Hot N Juicy Crawfish building, adjacent to the park. Look for the blue Unity Club awning above the entrance. After entering, go upstairs. Our meeting room — room #2 — is to the right of the coffee bar, toward the front (southwest side) of the building overlooking W Broad St (Virginia Route 7). Limited, two-hour free parking is available in the lot behind the park. Be sure to look for the TWO HOUR PUBLIC PARKING sign in your parking space. Towing is enforced on other parking spaces in the same lot. Additional free public parking is available on the opposite side of W Broad (Virginia Route 7) behind Ireland’s Four Provinces.
During the COVID pandemic this group meets virtually. Until all in-person gathering restrictions are lifted, few or no members may be present at Unity Club during the meeting.
